| About Prebiotics
Prebiotics A beneficial ingredient that can help babies’ digestive health is a prebiotic called inulin. Prebiotics help to stimulate the growth of “good” bacteria in babies’ digestive systems. Prebiotics are usually carbohydrates, but some non-carbohydrates can be used as prebiotics. Typical dietary sources of prebiotics are Jerusalem artichokes and chicory, which contain inulin. Other sources include raw oats, unrefined wheat or barley and most recently, Beech-Nut® DHA PLUS™ products. The prebiotic that naturally occurs in breast milk is also believed to play an important role in the development of a healthy immune system in infants.
